Granny’s Grocery located at 1071 Lincoln Street was the first recipient of a commercial façade improvement grant. The signage, exterior paint, and fascia repair have served as both substantive and symbolic cues regarding the FCRA’s commitment to improving the historically African-American neighborhood.

Oculina Bank
City of Fellsmere officials, Oculina staff, and members of the Sebastian Area Chamber of Commerce celebrate the opening of Oculina Bank Fellsmere Branch located adjacent to the Fellsmere Community Center at 56 N Broadway Street.

The City was able to attract the bank to locate in a City owned building by offering attractive lease terms and an expedited administrative-only review process. The result is that the City of Fellsmere has a first class banking operation located in the heart of the FCRA.

Prior to the location of Oculina Bank it had been decades since there was a bank in Fellsmere and residents were forced to drive a minimum of six miles to take care of their financial needs.

Aldea
Aldea
Pictured above is the groundbreaking ceremony for the project Aldea at Fellsmere.

This project is the largest currently approved commercial project within the FCRA. The commerce center is located on 8.5 acres on northwest corner of I-95 and CR 512.

The $10 million development will add about 20-percent to Fellsmere's tax base and a substantial infusion into the community redevelopment trust fund.

The commerce center will consist of four buildings totaling an estimated 50,000 square feet. Planned uses include a hotel, restaurant, convenience store, service station, and retail.

The total new employment is estimated at roughly 100 jobs.
